ACCESS REQUIREMENTS

To access the PhD Program in Advanced Biotechnology, it will be necessary to hold an Official Master's Degree in Advanced Biotechnology (UMA-UNIA), or an official Spanish Master's Degree in a related subject, or to the research subject of any of the lines and teams that are integrated in the PhD Program.

It will also give access to the PhD Program in Advanced Biotechnology to be in possession of a Master's degree of the same level and subject issued by a higher education institution of the European Higher Education Area, or a Bachelor's degree of more than 300 ECTS credits with a subject related to the Master in Advanced Biotechnology or to the research subject of any of the lines and teams that are integrated in the PhD Program, taking into consideration in this sense the optional contents passed in the degree provided by the graduate applicant.

SCALE

Regarding the scale referred to in the aforementioned Regulations, the Academic Committee of the Doctoral Program in Advanced Biotechnology will evaluate:

(a) The award of a competitive national or international pre-doctoral grant or contract, integrated in one of the research lines of the doctoral program, which will entail the automatic admission of the beneficiary person in the corresponding doctoral program, as long as he/she fulfills the remaining requirements provided in these regulations. Applicants in this situation must expressly indicate this in the application for admission.

b) In all other cases:

Sixty percent (60%) of the final score will correspond to the academic record of the degrees that have given the applicant access to said program, and will distribute said percentage of score preferentially valuing the contents of said degrees with subject matter related to the research of any of the lines and teams that are integrated in the Doctoral Program.
The remaining forty percent (40%) will correspond to the evaluation of the rest of the curriculum vitae specified by the applicant as other merits in the application for admission, preferentially considering the previous research experience in subjects related to the research developed by any of the lines and teams that are integrated in the Doctoral Program, and contributions such as publications, communications to congresses, participation in practical courses of experimental nature, related professional experience, etc. This 40% will be broken down as follows:

Research experience in the research lines of the Program (up to 10%).
The presentation of a thesis project in co-supervision with foreign universities with which the University of Malaga has a collaboration agreement in force (up to 10%). In no case will the evaluation of a thesis project under co-tutelage imply the authorization of the co-tutelage.
The presentation of a thesis project that opts for the industrial mention (up to 5%). In no case will the evaluation of a thesis project that opts for this mention imply obtaining it.
Other merits (training courses, stays in other centers, English language level B2,...) (up to 15%).

A command of the English language equivalent to a B2 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages is considered advisable, without the presentation of an official accrediting qualification being a requirement for access.

Finally, applications must be accompanied by a letter of endorsement from a Professor of the PhD Program in Advanced Biotechnology, thus covering the aspects of availability of research personnel linked to the program and accredited research experience, with capacity and situation to tutor the thesis in the area of research requested by the applicant.
